What culture does for us: researching and evaluating European Capitals of Culture

Following a very successful launch in Brussels in July 2010, the outcomes of the European Capitals of Culture Policy Group’s work has been presented in a final report. The document is the result of the international group – made up of representatives from Essen for the RUHR, Liverpool, Stavanger, Turku, Marseille and Kosice – working together for one year to produce a research framework, including recommendations for future European Capitals of Culture.

Stavanger has been represented by Nils Asle Bergsgaard and Hilmar Rommetvedt from IRIS and Rolf Norås from Stavanger Municipality.

The report ‘An international framework of good practice in research and delivery of the European Capital of Culture Programme’can be used as a guideline for research and evaluation by cities hosting the title. Essen for the RUHR.2010 has been part of an exciting development on a European level.
